Progress has recently been awarded three contracts with the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).  The allocated funds were awarded to  NCDENR for assessment and remedial activities at approximately 172 UST releases located throughout North Carolina.  The sites included in the program are those for which the parties responsible for the releases are unable or unwilling to conduct cleanups.  The funds will allow the NCDENR to carry on the remedial processes at these UST releases that pose risks to public health and the environment.
